A Review of Press Release Distributors
Every few days I seem to get an e-mail from someone asking me where they should distribute their online press release. I want to let you in on a little secret. Whether you use our press release services or the services of a much higher priced online press release company, they are all sent to the same news distributors the same way..AUTOMATICALLY.
There are no programs that are more expensive than others to send a press release They are all sent through online distributors via RSS, e-mail updates and news aggregators . DON’T BE FOOLED. These feeds and aggregators cost nothing. Don’t believe us? Compare the press release packages from all of these well known press release distributors. PRunderground (www.prunderground.com) Price: $9.99 and up They offer 3 affordable press release packages, the copper press release package, the gold press release package and their premium platinum press release package. Our press release services are excellent for both customers on a budget and also customers who simply want to get the most out of their press release distribution. We took advantage of their summer special. We ordered a Gold Package for $29.95 and at no extra cost they added a video release. With economic times so bad that was a deal we could not pass up. They also have outstanding live customer support. If you email them, within 5 minutes they will call you back and assist with any press release or SEO question you may have. PRWeb (http://www.prweb.com) Price: $80 and up The typical PRWeb release will appear (not 100% of the time) in most major news searchs (Google News, Topix, MSN News, etc…) and it will be distributed to thousands of people via RSS. They are the most popular, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they do the best job. They do fill a specific niche, but for the money you can probably get the same (or better) results elsewhere. PR.com (http://www.pr.com) Price: Free and Paid I’ve submitted press releases to PR.com that have been reprinted in my local newspaper. So if you have a newsworthy announcement, it’s worth it to submit a release to PR.com… but there is a catch. PR.com does not allow live links in their releases, well, not unless you pay ($30 per link). That and their online reach is pretty limited. They don’t have people republishing their releases like PRWeb does and a free PR.com release will only appear in Google News. In my opinion, they aren’t worth paying for, but the free option should definitely be used. PRLeap.com (http://www.prleap.com) Price: $49 and up PRLeap used to be a favorite of mine. Their free option was fantastic… it allowed live links, appeared in a number of news search sites and always ranked well in Google. However, for some reason the folks at PRLeap decided to discontinue their free option on 01/01/2008. It’s really a shame, because that’s what made them so good… PRLog (http://www.prlog.org) Price: Free PRLog has been doing pretty well over the past few months, especially with PRLeap starting to charge everyone. While PRLog doesn’t have a good reach in terms of actual distribution, they do rank well in Google. For that reason, I believe PRLog is a valuable tool in your href=”http://www.marknetgroup.com.com”>Search Engine Optimization ). They might not help you get news coverage, but they can help you rank better in Google. Obviously there are many other online news distributors out there. We just wrote the press release companies we felt were of value to our customers. There are many other ways to optimize your web site or get web exposure such as; viral marketing, search engine optimization, ad campaigns, blogs and interactive media. We have done business with many companies who specialize in SEO press releases. With these tough economic times we need to squeeze the most out of every advertising dollar we have. Do your homework and really look at who you do a press release with. Remember just because one comp[any is used by major players and charges much more dopes not mean your press release will be seen more than if you go with a much cheaper priced press release distributor. In my next blog, I will take a look at the Twitter explosion and how to use it to your advantage. Fresh Squeezed Ideas! Alex Miranda
