What is a Domain Registrar?

The internet works on several tiers. There are 3 key tiers to the function of the World Wide Web (www). There are:

A Domain Registrar is a company accredited by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers with authority to register internet domain names. A domain Registrar also controls which Domain Name Server (DNS) a domain name is pointed to. In turn, the Domain Name Server (DNS) controls where the actual files of a domain name hosted.

So when you type, www.marknetgroup.com into your browser, your ISP (internet Service Provider) first looks up the list of domain names, the domain request is then forwarded to the DNS server, which forwards the request to the Web Server. Fortunately, most ISP stores this information on the computers, so it does not have to fetch the Domain Registrar and DNS addresses in real time, and it updates this database periodically.
